Design Team-Red/White/Blue Vignette Box Challenge #1-Laurie

Happy 4th of July! Our Designers have been busy at work creating some fun new projects! We hope that you will follow along as we post a new Red/White/Blue creation each day! The Projects are displayed at the store for you to see! Come take a look!

Hey y’all Laurie here, with the Tim Holtz Idea-ology VIGNETTE DIVIDED DRAWER challenge. I first had the handle cut off my paint brush, and cut the bristles on the brush and glued it into spikes. Using the Tim Holtz Typography Numbers and Letters, Ransom Letters and some random chipboard letters, I glued the quote, “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” from Emma Lazarus’ sonnet, New Colossus, which she wrote for a fundraiser auction to raise money for the pedestal upon which the Statue of Liberty now sits. I painted the drawer with Primer Flat White. I then painted the drawer, face and spikes with Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Acrylic Paint (Cheddar, Sky, Lapis, Lime, Night Ruby, Fuchsia, Blackberry, Lemon, Evergreen, and Turquoise, really almost every color of DWM paint, #showusyourMEdia, #rangerink). I cut a hole in the top of the drawer and glued the brush in with e3000. I then tied the flag around the “neck”.

Hope to see you soon!
