Design Team Challenge Red/White/Blue Vignette Box #7 Lori

I am excited to share with you my Red/White/Blue Vignette Box! I started by using the smaller configuration box and removed the 2 shelf pieces. Using the Authentique “Liberty” paper collection, I covered the inside and outside with 2 different patterns, inking the edges to cover the white lines that appear when you cut the paper. It also “antiques” the paper! I added a wood base, covered it with the same paper and some small square blocks to had some height to the base and to lift the box off of the base.

Using one of the Tim Holtz large bottle brush trees, I sprayed it with Picket Fence several times. Using alchol inks, I dyed the Tim Holtz Pearls and added them to the tree.

I had some red and blue wire in my stash and I wrapped pieces of it around a small stick to make the curls and tucked those around in the tree. Using a small star punch, I punched stars out of a white glitter cardstock and glued those into the tree.

For my tree topper, this just came together with no plan! Sometimes that happens and it can be a good thing! In this case, I think it was! I had a wood star that I used a scrap of the Liberty cardstock and covered it. I had some red fringe crepe paper and added it to the back of the star. I found the cute Uncle Sam on line and printed it out small so that it would fit on my tree topper. I added a couple of stars and some curly wire and love the end result!

My clay guy holding the star was an ornament that I had that I have been wanting to do something with so he became a part of my vignette! I did add the fringe around his hat and a star on top of his flag!

The final piece is a vintage spool that had red/white/blue graphics on it and I had to find a way to use it on this project! I wrapped twine around it and then punched out more stars, this time bigger ones, added them to wire and again added some curly wires to make some firecrackers!

I hope you like my project and stop by the store to see it in person along with all of the other Design team members that have created amazing projects using the Tim Holtz Vignette Boxes!

See you back here with my next project!
