Hi Angela here…….

“Baby It’s Cold Outside” Tag

So a few of you may have seen this…..I posted it before I was supposed to, so if you have seen it….ya’ll look surprised!

We were given a Tim Holtz Wooden Tag and the challenge to create a Christmas themed tag. I love to make snow globes and have been making albums with snow globes on them, for about three years now.  I call this, Baby It’s Cold Outside.  Yes this idea came along before the ridiculous song ban started.

I started with a crinkled up sheet of Tim’s Composer Tissue Wrap and adhered it with Finnabair’s Soft Gloss Gel.  I heated it a bit and dried it with a heat gun.  I then used Broken China Distress Paint and slathered it on the Tissue Wrap and made it messy, so it highlights the wrinkles.  I adhered the Icicles with Glossy Accents and the Shiny Brite is from a Seasonal Ephemera Pack.

I used the Winter Wonder Die and cut out the Snowman from Grungeboard.  I then set the half of a Snowglobe over the Snowman and marked a line with a pencil, where I wanted to make the cut, so the globe is the belly of the Snowman. Next I trimmed on my cut line and inked the Snowman hat with Black Soot, the arm with Ground Espresso and the body is Finn’s Snowflake Texture Paste.  I LOVE this stuff, because it has glitter in it already!! The nose is Spiced Marmalade and the eyes and mouth are Enamel Accents.

I glued the Shiny Bright Ephemera Sign and the top icicles next.  To make the snow globe, I placed the globe on a piece of heavy cardstock and traced slightly outside of the globe, making it a bit bigger than the globe.  I created a background with additional cardstock to simulate snowdrifts and used pop dots.  I sprayed a Woodlands bottle brush tree with Forest Moss and a hint of Evergreen Bough and let it dry. I added Snowflake Texture Paste once it was dry.  Next I alcohol inked a small deer with Mushroom and adhered it and the tree to the background, making sure it would fit within the globe.  I then created a strip of cardstock around the inside and notched it and adhered ribbon over the top to hide the strip. I added mica flakes and then I used glossy accents to adhere the globe to the background and held firmly until dry and secure. I placed the other icicle to the bottom of the tag and adhered with Glossy Accents. I added more ribbon to the outside of the globe and wrapped the lights around mini garland pieces and secured the battery pack to the back of the tag, for easy operation of the on/off switch. Finally, I added ribbon, baubles and a charm to the top of the tag.
