As you attempt to wade through your scrap room or area, consider boxing up your extra supplies and donating them to the Arlington Life Shelter. If you can give me a guesstimate on retail value, I can give you a donation letter that you can write off on taxes.

We use scrapbooking in our therapeutic program to help our homeless parents and individuals to scrap a picture of themselves and their families upon arrival, then illustrating goals, illustrating roadblocks to success (most have endured difficult childhoods that they are able to work through with scrapbooking), then finally a page of their graduation activities.

Sherri - do you think that if I have the children decorate a box with Christmas wrap, Carolyn would be willing to put it in the store? I could come by every other weekend to collect donations.

Sorry I'm so loooooooooooooong winded! This is a cause that I am very passionate about because I see feelings generated that are holding people back from living the lives they have stopped hoping for. Becky
This is great. I have been trying to wade through my scrapbook supplies but just hate to toss anything. I will start a box and watch the blog for information on where to take donations. If you take scrap paper, I will sort by color, bag it up and put it in the box also.
SmileThat would be great, Linda! Don't worry about sorting papers by color. They'll end up scattered on the table when we set them out for class.

If anyone wants to drop them off at the shelter (I remember one of you said that you're my neighbor!), you can bring them to the front door M-F from 9-5 or the side door nightly from 5p.m. - 7 a.m. We're at 325 W. Division in Arlington. Feel free to call me on my cell (817) 291-0545 if you'd like me to give you a quick tour when you drop off your stuff.Smile
I'll see about the box. We'll get some (a lot) to you the 29th and then see where to go from there. would that be ok?
I'm so glad that we are doing this.
Smile That will be wonderful! Once I learn to scan, I'll scan in photos of the artwork and journaling some of our kiddos did for a state homeless calendar competition. Thanks to their experience scrapbooking, our kiddos' photos were selected for 8 of the 12 months in the state 2009 calendar! Children from throughout Texas submitted their artwork, and we won all of these months! Your supplies will continue that creativity! Thanks!
How cool.
OH I'm so glad I saw this! I have a huge box under my desk that I can't bear to throw away. Now I know why I saved it!! Smile I need to do another cleaning and then I'll come bring some stuff for you. Smile

That's how I feel. I just can't throw it away, and need to thin out...This is such a great purpose---I'm thinking some full sheets will find their way into my box.

Thanks so much for considering our homeless residents for your extra scrapbook supplies. I will be at The Crafty Scrapper Wednesday a.m. for the Pre-teen Crop as well as the after Thanksgiving Crop on Saturday if either of those days could work for you.

You have no idea what this gift will mean to our residents. Becky
