Copy Of Zentangle 101 - Trishia Rice
Saturday - Apr 19, 2014   10:30-12:30   $35

This class is the beginning of your Zentangle journey. Carefully chosen tangles will build
the skills you need for every step you take. Have you already tried your hand at this? Patterens
(tangles) in books and online are great resources, but they don't offer the tools to tap into your
own creative expressions using the purposeful, mindful process of Zentangle. You will come
away from this classwith two official Zentangle tiles and nine (yes, 9) patterns. Also, know that
you are learning from Trishia Rice, a Certified Zentangle Teacher trained by the founders Rick
Roberts and Maria Thomas. Trishia could not (and still cannot) draw realistic images, but she
has discovered it is not necessary for becoming an artist. Come and enjoy a relaxing and
creative two-hour session - you won't regret it!

Art Journal Play Series: Listening and Layering DINA WAKLEY
Friday - Apr 25, 2014   6-9pm   $60

My "Art Journal Play" classes are all about exploring and playing with art journaling techniques. The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages. We'll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.).In this class we'll explore and push our layers. I will guide you through layering exercises, where you listen to my prompts and then react in your journal. No two pieces will be alike! It's a great artistic study for learning how to listen to your artwork, where to put the next layer, and when to stop. We'll try to load our pages with as many layers as we can, making sure we remain in control of the layers and that we work them to our advantage.

Art Journal Play Series: A Face in the Crowd DINA WAKLEY
Sunday - Apr 27, 2014   10-5pm (1hr lunch break)   $110

My "Art Journal Play" classes are all about exploring and playing with art journaling techniques. The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages. We'll be working journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.).

This class builds on my popular "My Facebook" class. My Facebook is not a prerequisite for this class, but it is helpful.

We live in a world full of many different faces.  This class is about celebrating those faces in the crowd, and recording them in an expressive and thoughtful way.  This class is not about making perfect or pretty faces, it's about making distinct faces. Faces that have a history and a narrative. We'll focus on the power of a line, that a simple line communicates information and meaning. I'll show you my favorite ways to scribble and draw expressively, and we'll practice making faces with imperfect and striking features. We'll look for the stories in each face, and create a narrative for them with symbols and doodles. We'll explore various art techniques and learn how to incorporate our drawings into our mixed-media pieces to create unified, meaningful art. We'll practice in our journals and then make a large work of art to show off our skills.
